“GoodFood — No longer do you have to depend on your taxi driver to get a good recommendation of where to eat.

Once you arrive at your destination, check out GoodFood by GoodRec for nearby restaurants and user reviews. Zoom in on the Google powered map, pick a listed establishment and tap for information and directions.

The “Want to Go” feature allows the user to create a list of favored places which will then appear with a bright blue pushpin when viewing the map. You can also add your own recommendations and photos on this free app.”

Searching for the Perfect Bloody Mary?

So Goodrec’s search is a pretty talented beast.

For example not only can yousearch for a restaurant by name, you can also search by cuisine. Just type “chinese” in the ‘for’ field, hit the Return Key, et voila! More Chinese Restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

Pretty cool, eh? Still, there are some things it can’t do… yet ;-)

Suppose, for example, that you want to find bars that serve Bloody Mary’s that Goodrec’s users are talking about. Typing “bloody mary” in Goodrec’s ‘for’ field isn’t going to help you there, but there is a way to get to the info you want using Google.

Just type the text below (or copy and paste) into Google’s search box:

site:goodrec.com bloody mary

Google returns a list of all the goodrecs and users that mention Bloody Mary’s.

Hmmmm… but you are in San Francisco and these bars are all over the map. So let’s refine it a bit:

bloody mary “san francisco” site:goodrec.com

That’s it! If you come up with any cool power searches, let us know.
